Our Core Values Should Drive Our Business, Not the Other Way Around
As someone who has been the owner and operator of a successful IT company for many years, it’s sometimes easy for me to forget that at the end of the day, I’m still just an entrepreneur – the same as so many others out there.
I don’t care what type of business you’re running or even what industry you’re operating in – one day not too long ago, you woke up with this urge to start a company of your own and there was absolutely no stopping you. You had a vision and a will to bring that idea to life. But that “urge” had nothing to do with the complex bureaucracy that running a business eventually brings with it. Nobody says to themselves “oh boy, I can’t wait to devote my life to pleasing share holders one day.” That spark that ignited that can never be extinguished again is a quality that can be summed up in a single word:
That passion is what got you out of bed that morning, yes – but it’s also what compelled you to devote so much of your blood, your sweat and your tears to forming the business you’re now proudly running. Every decision you made in those early days was rooted in that beautiful passion. Every choice you made was in service of something far larger and more important than yourself.
So why should things suddenly be any different now that your business is officially up and running?

At Levit8, we deeply believe that our core values should drive our business, NOT the other way around. Our main core value just so happens to be that very passion I was just talking about – in this case, our passion for IT.
We’re passionate about providing superior IT solutions to our clients. We want to do whatever it takes to deliver premium technology that, when combined with an excellence in service standards, allows us to offer something that many of our partners just didn’t have access to in the past.
It would literally be impossible for us to do this if we spent our days concerned with line items on balance sheets, or “how the market is going to react to this or that.”
We have other core values too, of course. They include things like:
- Transparency. We do as we say with absolutely no hidden gimmicks or fees. We practice open and honest communication, full stop.
- Accountability. We have an important role to play in the lives of our partners and we take ownership of that role. We are reliable, available and responsive to the absolute best of our abilities.
- Excellence. We don’t just want to provide premium products and solutions. We want to provide the premium service and support to go along with it.
- Collaboration. Not only do we put a priority on unified professional interactions internally – we operate the exact same way with our clients, too.
By now, you’ve probably realized that all of those core values are born out of that same passion that originally brought Levit8 to life.
Even something as seemingly simple as transparency is far more important than a lot of people realize. One of the things we like to do at Levit8 involves holding monthly IT meetings with our clients, making sure that they’re always on the same page and in-the-loop about what we’re doing and, more importantly, why.
We do this because we’re transparent and act with integrity, yes. But we’re also excited about these monthly IT meetings. We can’t wait to share with you all of the progress we’ve made and all the exciting ideas we have about how to further empower your technology and your business over the long run.
If we weren’t excited – if we ever started to see these meetings as a “necessary evil” – we’d be looking at the moment where we should probably get out of this business entirely.
